Even though we are out of the country, that doesn’t stop us from celebrating an all-American holiday! We went over to our neighbor’s house for dinner. We prepared all of the food and ate at his house in the evening. We didn’t get a day off from ministry, but we left earlier than normal. I did enjoy getting to eat Thanksgiving food with everyone, but it really made me miss home. Well, at least I can say I celebrated Thanksgiving in Costa Rica!

  1. I do not like to be away from home around the holidays

  2. Sweet potatoes are WHITE and yams are ORANGE. I didn’t know this and I had a bit of a crisis

  3. Americans eat so much food for Thanksgiving

  4. Mac & cheese isn’t something everyone eats for Thanksgiving

  5. Pie isn’t a necessary dessert. There are other options

  6. Having chicken instead of turkey is a pretty good substitute

  7. Peeling potatoes the morning of reminded me of home, making me happy and less homesick

  8. Mashed potatoes is always a crowd favorite

  9. With about 60 people eating, there will never be any leftovers to eat on for the next week

  10. Celebrating an American holiday in a different country shows you how important tradition is

I took pictures, but I’m having a hard time uploading them. You will see them soon!
