Hello there!
My name is Kaila Smith and I am currently 20 years old living in Charlotte, North Carolina. Since you’re here to get know a little more about me, the first thing you should know is I am a huge talker and not writer, so bare with me through these blogs! When I was six years old, my family moved to Lima, Peru as missionaries so you could easily say International missions in engraved into my DNA. Ever since I could possibly remember, I have had my entire life planned out all the way from my future career path to the exact dog I would buy myself when I graduated college. But God can be funny sometimes and wreck all of your what-seemed-to-be-perfect plans you had for yourself. I am a rising junior at Appalachian State University as an Exercise Science and Nutrition major. My ultimate dream is to finish school as a sports therapist and to be involved in sports medicine with professional teams. When the opportunity came around for me to take on another crazy adventure, I wanted to hold off until I graduated college. The spontaneous, God fearing, and adventurous side of me wanted to jump on this opportunity right away..while the realistic, academically driven part of me kicked in really strong and said absolutely no. I wanted to be a “normal college student” staying up until 4 a.m. studying for exams, taking road trips with your roommates, and making memories of a lifetime. I told myself God knew the plans I had, because I had told Him how my life should look. I will say it again, God is funny and it was finally time for Him to humble me and the plans I thought were best. Super long story made short, here we are surrounding every ounce of who I am to God’s plans and however He wants to steer my life. I am so excited to share this crazy, life-altering, humbling experience with each and every one of you!
