“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed”- Psalm34:18
I read this in my devotional this morning and it really struck a cord with my heart. Everyone has experienced a broken heart at some point in their life. As a child I thought that the worst pain in the world was when the ice cream fell off of the top of my cone. Though devastating, as I grew older I realized the world has much more hurt in it, and I am not the only one who feels it.
Looking at other’s pain you can’t truly know what they are going through. Though dropping a cone of ice cream may seem like something small to you, to the person who dropped it, it could mean so much more. I have learned over the years to never judge my pain against another’s. So many times I have listened to someone tell their latest struggle and caught myself about to say “yeah but…” and then proceed to tell my issue that I clearly felt was much more significant. With this revelation I have decided to actively work towards truly listening to others and build them up instead of wallowing in my own heart break and trying to make it seem greater than theirs.
Heart break comes in so many different forms. It could be the loss of a loved one, the end of a relationship or a dream that just isn’t coming to fruition. You never know when a curve ball is going to be thrown your way and sometimes it can make you feel like it is truly life ending. I have had some extremely deep lows in my life but, I can look back on them all and see something amazing that God placed in my life at the same time. Every moment of darkness there was a bit of light that shone through and I know He brought me through every struggle to teach me something about myself and about those around me.
In your own struggle I know how hard it can be to see any light but, remember God loves you and will never give up on you. So, don’t ever give up on yourself. Revel in the little victories. Some days getting out of bed can count as a win. Every step on your journey is part of your own personal path. No one on earth can say what that journey looks like; only He knows truly what pain is in your heart and what you are going through. Always place everything at His feet and He will bring you through! It may not be in the way that you prayed and hoped for but, it is the path He meant for you.
~The pain that you’ve been feeling, can’t compare to the joy that is coming~
