Hey everyone! My name is Kaila, thanks for supporting this crazy passion of mine! Here are a few things you should know about me:
- I'm 26-years-old (If only I'd heard of the World Race sooner!)
- I grew up in a small town near Seattle, WA.
- I'm a little obsessed with being outdoors. I spend most of my free time horseback riding, hiking, or camping in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. (Friends, feel free to enjoy the irony when I get tired of sleeping on the ground during the Race.)
- I feel the most at home when I'm wandering around in the wilderness.
- I love reading books and listening to music, usually at the same time.
- In college I majored in English with a Writing Emphasis. And no, I don't know yet what I want to do with my English degree.
- I have no sense of direction (Geographically speaking)
- I've lived alone for the past 4 years. Expect many growing/learning/stretching moments to come during this adventure in community living!
Following God's call to the World Race has been a roller coaster ride already. Giving up my familiar life for a year has been a painful decision at times, but I know that nothing I can arrange for myself could be better than the life God intended for me to live. Many times I questioned God about his will for me; whether I should go on the Race, which route was right for me, should I be doing something with a bigger impact. The response I consistently heard was, "I called you to go. Stop questioning, stop complicating things, stop rationalizing. Go."
"As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world." – John 17:18
Thank you for joining me as He sends me into the world, one country at a time.
