Friends and Family,
I am still alive and kicking, in case you didn’t know! Life here in El Salvador has been truly amazing. Sorry it has been so long since we have talked, but my schedule has been quite busy. Then, when it is not busy, I am either surfing or spending time with my lovely local friends.
The pure joy I feel here is overwhelming. God has taken hold of my heart and is showing me, at least for the time being, the goodness of life. He is showing me what it is like to be in good Christian community with 13 girls. Yes, I said 13 girls. Right before the third month started, team Meek came and joined us in our home! At first we were shocked and taken back, but it has been such a blessing having them here. They bring such fun and beauty to us.
Ministry has been great these last few weeks, full of projects and preparation. Two of my favorite projects have been the beach clean up and feeding children at a church. Both these experiences were wonderful and really made me happy to give back to this community I have fallen in love with. We have also started hard preparation for the after school dreams program that is starting next week. We have created english lessons and a game schedule and other little things like that to help the program start smoothly. I cannot wait to see what happens with it in the coming weeks!
I have fallen in love withe El Tunco. Everything about it makes me smile and fills my heart. I can be in the worst mood, having the worst day, then walk to the beach and have everything turned around. My favorite boys in the world, Ulises, Louise, and Juan Carlo are always there and never fail to make me smile. They have the sweetest hearts. They are the boys that sell jewelry on the beach day in and day out, but they are always so joyful. Some days they take me swimming in the waves of the ocean. Other days we climb the big Tunco rock and we also have jumped from trees into the water. With every passing minute, my heart grows more for them. The beach, the waves, everything makes me fall deeper in love with this place. I mean I have gone out surfing for the past three days and have been able to build relationships with the people teaching me. God has surely blessed!
