Meet Team GRAFTED!
In July while I was away at training camp I was able to meet so many people who would be sharing this journey with me that God has put us all on together. Between all the Squad Mentors, Squad Leaders, Alumni Squad Leader, Team leaders, Training Camp Trainers, Squad S,my team, and many others; I know that God put us all together because we will do amazing things to advance His kingdom. My Squad: S squad (best squad ;p) consists of 46 young adults that will be travelling with me around the world. I love my whole squad, however God has given me the opportunity to do ministry and spend my 9 month journey with 6 girls, and we form team: Grafted. Before I introduce you to my team I would first like to share about how God provided us with the name Grafted.
When we arrived at training camp, we were assigned to our teams. That day we were able to have team time to get to know each other a little bit. After a few days of trying to get to know the team as well as trying to get to know the Squad, things started to feel very overwhelming as there were a total of 400 kids at camp that week. So towards the end of our time together we had realized as a team that we are all very different. We were told that we needed to pick a team name by Sunday evening and we had no idea what we were going to do. We were praying God would give us unity and provide us with a name that would perfectly fit our team. As we were throwing out ideas we just kept thinking that there was a word for our team name, but none of us knew that word yet. As we were still thinking, another trainer came into our team “spot” and started to pray over us. Keep in mind, she hasn’t been apart of our team name process… As she was praying she used the word unity and unified, and as my team and I obviously knew, it was a total #GodMoment and we got really excited. At the end of the night we still didn’t have a team name but we now knew God would reveal it to us in His time, not ours. The next morning when we had team devotionals, one of my teammates said she had another idea for our team name. She said she was talking on the phone with her mom last night and she was telling her mom about how we needed a team name and her mom just kept thinking of the word grafted. So we researched the word grafted and it has two definitions, 1. insert (a shoot or twig) as a graft. 2. transplant (living tissue) as a graft. As a team we felt that we could instantly relate to both definitions and that this was meant to be. We could relate to the second definition because like I said before, we are all really different, except we now realized that we are different parts of the body of Christ and we came together for the same purpose. We felt like we could relate to the first definition (after more research, when we found the synonm: splicing) because splicing is when you take the roots of plants and cut one open and insert the next into it, with multiple plants, and they will grow together to become one. Team Grafted wants to grow together to become more like Jesus and to work together in all His nations to BUILD HIS KINGDOM!
