It’s 2:00am in Ecuador. I think I’m so exhausted that I can’t actually sleep. So I’m thinking about the past week and all of the things that it included.
What I’ve learned most while at Gap J’s first debrief is that I love these people a whole lot. As I sit and process and think through the reason why I feel this deep love for a group of people I just met a few months ago… I can’t help but think it’s because they allow me to be who I am.
They provide a safety for me to say the things that I feel like the Lord wants me to say. They let me stop and talk to strangers and they don’t just wait on me but they join into the conversation, too. They compliment my outfits. They seek out wisdom. They let me be goofy and serious all in the same breath. They let me hold the weight of their stories. They are excited to tell me about all the God things of their days. They like to just sit with me and be in my space. They like to know my story and where I’ve come from and what all the Lord did on my own race.
The feeling is mutual.
I like being in their space. I like that they can hold the weight of my story and my days. I like that they sit and listen to the Lord and then they go where He wants them to go and they invite me along. I like that they are running hard after the Lord and the things He has this year and that I get the opportunity to try and keep up with them.
I just like this group of humans a lot.
There’s something to be said about a group of people who carry a freedom that allows other people to be free as well. It’s a freedom that they know who God has created them to be. Sons and daughters. Men and women of God who are living life on mission for Him. They don’t care if they look like a fool worshiping in the middle of a park because they know that people need this same freedom that they have.
Gap J isn’t perfect but wow, Gap J just wants what the Lord has for them this year. They’ve come to the table hungry and God is serving up some good stuff this year.
I cannot believe that Month 1 is already over! As a squad leader I will be traveling from team to team throughout the months. Joining them in ministry and just getting to pour into and disciple them. These next few weeks I will be with a team working at a home for kids with special needs and of course, it will be awesome. Subscribe for updates as we get back into the rhythm of ministry!
Also, you guys can still make donations straight to my account by clicking the button up top! I am about $1,000 short of having the full amount needed to keep leading these wonderful people! I am so, so thankful for all that you have done for me over these last few years. It’s been a beautiful thing to see the body coming together to support me in doing what the Lord has called me to do. So, thank you. From the bottom of my heart.
