There are two squads leaving in September going on two different routes. Until yesterday, I was on Route 1.
Saturday afternoon I was talking to a friend who is about to start his last month of the race. During our conversation he says, "so, have they split your squad yet?" and I literally answered, "I don't know what you're talking about, that isn't going to happen."
48 hours later…
Most of the September Route 1 squad was emailed and invited to switch to the Route 2 squad because our numbers between the two squads were so unbalanced. I tried to tell myself I needed to take at least a day to fall before the Lord and wait for guidance…but here's the lineup:
Ukraine
Romania
Nepal
India
Tanzania
Uganda
Rwanda
Thailand
Cambodia
Challenge: Asia
Malaysia
Almost every one of those countries is plagued with social injustice, several of them directly related to human trafficking, a few directly related to sex trafficking.
I wanted to take at least 24 hours…but the afternoon after I got the email it was very clear that, while I have had the blessing and wonderful opportunity to begin to foster friendships with many of the sweet racers on Route 1, my heart is so pulled toward the social injustice of human trafficking that for the Lord to invite me to see this world through His eyes where my heart most longs to see a change wasn't something I could turn down. It was a very emotional experience to consider "leaving" my Route 1 friends, but the two September squads are just that much more unified through this…and now I get to fall in love with a whole new squad!
So, the Lord continues to romance me, and I officially am beginning to see how much I do not grasp the concept of not having expectations…but I have no doubt that in a few short months I'll start to get it.
Please be in prayer for both squads as we process this change and prepare (as much as we can) for training camp in under 2 weeks!
