3 weeks from today,
I will land in D.C.!!!
(okay, Virginia)

I like surprises, strawberry cupcakes, red wine, multicolored flowers, and hugging my family.
Plan celebratory events accordingly.

but anyway.

this is not the most fun blog of my life, but I need you.

I will have lived in or within 30 kilometers (…oh, we speak in miles?) of 9 major or capitol cities, where life costs significantly more than any of us on A-squad thought it could or would on the race…9 months of unforeseen expenses can be really difficult for someone without an income.

My most expensive months of my race were in Chanthaburi, Thailand where I had a $480.00 hospital bill (thanks for covering that and keeping me alive, mom!) and Kigali, Rwanda where one may expect things to be cheap because it’s Africa, but it’s hard to find a meal for under $8.

That's kind of how it's been these last 2 months of the race, as well.

Our food budget is $3 per day, I’m sure you can see the difficulty there.

"oh, I'm broke after this? …alright."

The truth is, I’m going home to a nearly empty bank account after this messy, expensive, impossible, perfect 11 month trip of a lifetime.

But you can help me to not fall flat on my face when I get home by donating to counter the cost of the following pre-race expenses that I probably should’ve been humble enough to ask for help with a year ago, and wasn’t:

  • Vaccinations: $925.00 (yes, really, and I still got Malaria, Dengue, and Typhoid)

  • International Medical Insurance: $383.00

  • My flight to launch: $89.00

  • My flight home from LA in 21 days: $480.00 (this one's to hopefully pay may parents back for that ticket)

  • Gear: approximately $600.00

Thank you so much to the huge number of you that have been part of this journey financially, you and I will probably never really know how much was accomplished this year through your giving, but you’ve been part of changing me and my life forever.

Thank you for praying for me through illness and celebration and countless transitions.

Thank you for helping me now

You can donate to my WR account and I can be reimbursed for most of those, the only downside being that it takes significantly longer, but if you choose that option just click the “Support Me” link on the left side of my blog under my photo.

It would be absolutely easiest, though,to donate through my PayPal account here:
