Trust.
Trust Me.
That’s what You ask us to do.
Easy, right? It’s easy to trust You, the God of this universe. To put our lives in the hands of the God who created us, and called us, and is so darn sweet to us.
Easy.
But what about when putting our life in Your hands looks very much like putting our life in human hands.
What about when our fate hinges on someone else’s decision?
This someone else…whom we are assured was placed here by You…
To which our human nature questions, “What if they make a mistake?”
But the truth is: You know the mistakes they could make.
Which means it’s probably not a mistake at all.
You know the decisions they could make.
And knowing all of the above, You put us here…underneath them…
And You ask us to trust You.
To trust You…
When we know what the natural consequences might be…
And when we can barely bear the thought of them.
To trust You…
When You say coming into the light is better…
Even if it appears like only in the shadows will life make sense…
To trust You…
When that means letting go of everything…
Because to partially trust is to not trust at all…
And it’s here that we linger.
We linger just on the edge of the Light…
And we’re asked to decide…
To decide whether or not to live with what could happen in the Light
Or to live running from the Light…and live hiding in the shadows.
This week I got to witness a story of trust.
I got to witness someone look at our God and say, “I trust You.”
The reward in trusting is not always what one wants it to be.
Sometimes the thing one fears is the thing that they get.
But something that is found ONLY in the Light is this: Peace.
Peace never resides in the shadows.
And so we trust.
We trust You with our story.
A story that interweaves our free will and Your sovereignty…
Where our humility meets Your graciousness…
Where our story becomes Your story in us…
If we allow You to keep writing.
How often we fight to take back the pen…
Because we don’t like where the story might go…
But sometimes…
It’s those pages just beyond the struggle…
Just beyond the fight for our way…
Just beyond the temptation to run back into the shadows…
Just on the other side of surrender…
That make for the most powerful chapters of all.
*Dedicated to my wonderful squadmates…you know who you are. And this story of yours…is just beginning. Soooo much love for you all. ~Kacie
