I leave Chanute TOMORROW.

This World Race trip, it’s HERE! Can’t believe it.

I just wanted to take a few minutes to let you guys know what my next week looks like. It’s a BIG week.

First things first, tomorrow (June 28) is my send off party. It’s going to be at my church (Otterbein UMC — I can get you the address if you need it). Lunch is at 11:30, cake and punch at 1:00. As long as it’s not raining, (hopefully it doesn’t!!) we’ll have games outside! It’s going to be an afternoon to just hang out and enjoy the day. Hope you can make it – can’t wait to see all of you!

From my send off party, I will be saying goodbye to Chanute for 11 months and Devin (my big brother) will drive me to Kansas City. I’ll be staying the night with a squad mate, then we fly to Atlanta, GA Sunday morning for LAUNCH!! Hurray for not having to travel by myself!

And you know what’s awesome?!

My parents, Dusty, and Chrissy (my little brother and his girlfriend just in case you are wondering who “Dusty and Chrissy” are. They’re way cool!) are coming to launch! They’ll be making the drive on Sunday and will stay until Tuesday! I am so excited that they get to meet my squates, teammates, and other parents/families of Racers’ who are probably feeling the exact same way as they are! They’ll get to see for themselves how amazing these people are who I get to spend this next year with and what the Race is all about, as well as have some of their concerns/worries/questions they may have, be put at ease hopefully! I will say goodbye to them on Tuesday – not so much looking forward to that.

Thursday, July 3, is our official launch date. Our first stop is the Dominican Republic!!

IN SIX DAYS I’LL BE LIVING IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC!!! Ahhh!

We will be working and living in Las Lajas, DR working with Hope DR leading a teen camp and english camp. Click HERE to check out their website, and HERE to see a video about this ministry. The video can also be found on their website!

Oh and I almost forgot, we will be living in our tents for the first month. And I’m excited about it.

Y’all, this is really real!

In other news, this is what our living room looks like right now.

Packing your life up into a backpack is FUN! Everything was once was in organized, neat piles. Somehow it turned into a big blob of disorganized mess. Hopefully the next step is neatly packed away in my pack where it ALL will fit. I’m determined! Pray for me! 🙂

Everyone keeps asking me how I’m doing so maybe you are wondering too…

This week has been crazy busy. Busy taking care of last minute things. And when you’re me, everything becomes a last minute thing. I’m such a procrastinator, it’s sad really.

I’ve been spending every minute I can meeting up with friends one last time, which has been so fun! But with that comes the goodbye. That part, not so much fun. And of course I’ve been soaking up every minute that I can with my family. I mean, who spends one of their last nights in Kansas for a year, at the softball fields watching their brothers play? Me, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

While the reality of leaving my friends and family for 11 months is hitting me strong, I am so excited. Like, through the roof, over the moon, beyond ecstatic for what is about to happen.

Thank you all SO MUCH for the support you’ve shown me. The financial support, the endless prayers, the encouraging words you’ve spoken to me, the love you have poured out to me, the excitement you’ve shown. I’m so excited to share this journey with you!

If you haven’t already done so, you should subscribe to my blog, and also my teammates. They’re amazing and they are going to be such a huge part of my life, you might as well get to know them. 🙂

Please be praying for us and the entire D squad as we all pack up our belongings, finish everything that needs to be finished, and say our final goodbyes. Pray for us as we walk into the unknown, that we may walk into it full of boldness and courage, knowing that we are walking in the strength of Jesus. May our lives and hearts never ever be the same!

The next time I write a blog, I will be in the DR. Isn’t that so cool?!

Thank you for taking the time to read my blogs, especially this one. It was quickly written, kind of all over the place and slightly disorganized! My brain feels like my living room looks right now – a big blob of disorganized, all over the place thoughts, that never ends.

You guys are AMAZING. Have a beautiful day!

🙂

Until next time,

Kaci
