Revelation is my favorite book of the bible. It is filled
with beautiful imagery and it unfolds a glorious chain of events. The key to
this entire book lies within the first verse. This is the Revelation of Jesus
Christ. The Revelation of who He is. All books of the bible point to this
pinnacle point: The person, Jesus Christ.

In chapter four John begins to describe the throne room of
God. There are twenty-four elders that circle His throne. The twenty-four
elders fall before Him day and night and worship the living God, the King of Kings,
the Lord of Hosts.

The revelation of Jesus Christ is infinite in His character, depth, beauty, and greatness.
He is beyond our ability to grasp in our mind. His glory is beyond our ability
to behold with our eyes. Each time God reveals another part of Himself, these
elders can do nothing but fall on their faces and cast their crowns at His
feet. They cry, “You are worthy, O Lord,
to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and by Your
will they exist and were created.”

The beauty, glory, power, and person of Christ is so
incredible that these elders have been worshiping all of history, and will
continue to do so for all eternity. His glory is endless and moves us toward
worship.

And God chooses to
express himself through His creation.

The crimson velvet rose is a beautiful expression of God. Just
as the melody a songbird sings expresses a song on God’s heart. But the bird
should not wish to be a rose, and the rose should not wish to be a song, for a
world void of one or the other is a world at loss.

How can you compare the
expression of the created? How can one compare the exquisite work of the ceiling
in the Sistine Chapel to the grandeur of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony? They
cannot be compared. They are not even on the same plane. They are both
beautiful expressions of something within the heart.

In the same way, WE are God’s
created. We each hold an expression of the heart of the Father. He has
entrusted in to our hearts an expression of Himself that no one in the entire world
or all of history can ever carry out. We are incomparable. How can you compare
one expression of His heart to another? Each is greatly needed to share a part
of God the world has never seen.

There are many times we find
ourselves in comparison with other sons and daughters of God. We sometimes do
our best to replicate or shadow their person. But we do not see that if we
forsake our person, our unique expression of God, wishing to be another – we have
snuffed out that facet of God on the Earth. You are the only one that can
express His heart in that way.

We have a responsibility to be
ALL of who God created us to be. The full and best expression of Him through
us! The more we draw near to Him and become like Him, the more vibrant and real
we become as individuals.
