This month we will be working in the Kingdom of Swazliand. For those of you who do not know, Swaziland is a tiny country, located within South Africa. The country of Swaziland is currently suffering from many different problems-ranging from government corruption and bankruptcy to an AIDS epidemic. It is estimated that if trends stay the same, Swaziland will no longer exist in the year 2050 due AIDS deaths. This month we will be working at a ministry called El Shaddai. El Shaddai is an orphanage that is home to close to 85 children-infants all the way up to late teens. In addition to offering a housing and meals to these children, El Shaddai also offers schooling. In Swaziland, children cannot attend school unless they are able to pay for it. El Shaddai offers the only known FREE school in all of Swaziland. This month we will doing everything from construction, ditch digging and yardwork to tutoring and caring for young babies.
