“Lord this was such a great week.  I wish I could do it all over again….”  October 2010

This was just a passing prayer.  One of those prayers that you think God doesn’t even notice.  But he answered it!  This was a prayer that I uttered after attending training camp for my World Race trip, which launched in January 2011.  To be honest, it wasn’t one that I thought He’d answer….BUT HE DID!  (God loves surprises!)

Several weeks ago, I was able to attend my 2nd World Race training camp, this time as Squad Leader!  It was interesting because in some ways it was very different, but in other ways very familiar.  My first training camp I had so many questionsWhat would they make us do?  Would I have to eat crazy food?  Would I get along with my squad mates?  This second time ,around there were new questions:  “Would I get along well with my co-leader?  Would I have to speak in front of everyone often?  If so, what the heck am I going to say to a group of 50+ that I’ve never met before?  Thankfully, God is good and just as he calmed my fears the 1st training camp, he was faithful the second time around.  Hey our God is “always good”  Amen?

Training camp was a crazy experience to say the least.  At Adventures in Missions, a common saying/prayer is that “our floor would be your ceiling”, meaning that upcoming squads would experience MORE than previous squads.  More of God’s kingdom, more of the Holy Spirit, more healings & miracles…MORE!   At training camp it was cool to see this prayer answered!  This was the largest training camp yet with 4 squads, 2 passport (college-age) teams and staff.  In total there were nearly 300 people and God showed up in BIG ways!  Several people were physically healed and people had such an excitement to worship and really pursue God.  One of the most meaningful things for me to see was people “coming alive”.  I heard over and over again throughout the week people say things like “This is what I’ve been praying for…”,   It was so amazing to see God heal hearts and literally breathe new life into people!

For those of you who don’t know, I will be squad leading K-Squad.  Here are some pics:

To be completely honest, I have been BLOWN AWAY by this group of people!  They are so ON FIRE for the things of God.  One of the new things about training camp is that they assign squads colors.  Fittingly, K-Squad’s color is RED!  I’m so blessed to able to spend the first 4 months encouraging, challenging, and loving on them!   Their World Race begins in September and takes them to:  Australia, Malaysia, Vietnam/Laos, Cambodia, India, Nepal, Tanzania, Rwanda, Kenya, Ukraine and Romania!  Please continue to keep them, and my co-squad Patrice Deaton   (or ‘Mama P’ as she’s known to the squad)  in your prayers!
