So I’ve said goodbye to Australia and now it’s on to a new country (Malaysia)…with a new TEAM!

I present to you…..FRUIT OF THE GROOM!
(pic by Kasey Brinson)
My new team includes: Berdien Ephraim, Misty Anderson, Brianna Arnold, ME, Steven Chun, and Kasey Brinson.   We chose the name “Fruit of the Groom” for several reasons.  First, in the Bible it talks about how we as Christians are the bride of Christ.  Also, it mentions that we are a “firstfruit” and therefore our team wants to go forth giving the best of our time, talents and resources to God in the countries we serve in.  Finally, in Galatians it speaks of the “Fruits of the Spirit” which are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self-control.  Our team wants to continually strive to exhibit these characterstics as God works in and through us!  I’m excited to enter into a new “season” with a new team! God has blessed me with the opportunity to stay on as a team leader. Therefore, prayers would be greatly appreciated as we enter into Malaysia to spread the love of JESUS!

A quick bit of info about Malaysia and our ministry this month….

Malaysia is an island/peninisula that is located in southeast Asia. It is bordered by Thailand to the north, Singapore to the south. The country is a literal melting-pot of cultures! There are many different people groups (Malays, Indians, Chinese, and Indigenous), languages spoken, and religions. The country is one of the most modernized in southeast Asia. The capital city is Kuala Lumpur, which is located in the south and has close to 2 million people.

Team Fruit of the Groom will be spending the month in Penang, Malaysia. Its about a 5 hour bus-ride north and is located on a small island off of the mainland. Penang is home to Georgetown City, a World Heritage Site. Our team will be staying in the heart of Georgetown City. Our primary ministry will be at Kawan Drop-In center. The center offers assistance to the homeless of Penang. We will be cooking, cleaning and working on several renovation projects in the center. In addition to this, we will be doing street ministry on certain nights. Also, we have found a children’s center that we will be working with on the weekends! We’ll have opportunities to teach English, clean and have fun with the kids! Anywho, I’ll definitely have more pics, stories to come so keep posted and keep me and Team Fruit of the Groom in your prayers! God Bless!
