Hey everybody!!
As you may know or perhaps just came to know, I have decided to go on a missions trip to eleven different countries over an eleven month time period. It’s great that you are taking the time and interest to let me tell you a bit about how I have come to this decision.
So this is my first attempt at writing a blog, and while i don’t know really where to begin I will start by letting you know what God has been doing in my life over the last year or so. Missions has been something which God has laid on my heart over the last five years or so, and more specifically going on a missions trip myself is something I have been interested in for a while; however nothing has materialized up to this point mostly because I had not made it a priority in my life. I had a million excuses why not to do it, and always justified not doing anything because I would ‘do it later’. So, if you know me very well you know that I like to procrastinate and usually wait until the last minute to decide on things; and so, true to form I’m happy to say that I havn’t dissappointed as I have two months to prepare before I go. But this time I am going to do my best to make this trip happen! Better late than never right? Over the last year I have seriously been looking for a missions trip, and up until just recently things havn’t worked out but have fell through. At the time it was discouraging but now looking back I can definitely see that things didn’t work out for a reason and i believe that God has called me specifically to this trip at this time.
Ya as I said it’s an eleven month missions trip called ‘The World Race’ not to be mistaken for ‘The Amazing Race’, because as far as I know we won’t be racing at all nor will we be on tv – although I’m sure at times it would make for some great reality Survivor like show crossed with Big-Brother and yes, mixed with The Amazing Race, no but serioulsy all jokes aside I am so excited to have this opportunity to serve and to show the love of God to the nations. As believers we are called to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to obey what Jesus has taught us, (Matt 28 19,20) so my going on this missions trip is a way of being obedient to God and a way of being faithful to my calling as a follower of Christ.
Over the next days I will share more specifically where the Lord has called us and in what ways we will be serving. I look forward to you joining me on this journey over the next year or so. I will continue to post blogs from this point until I return back home over the next year or so, and I hope that you will continue to take the time to find out more what God is doing and will continue to do in my life.
Thanks for you support and prayers!
Justin
