Hello friends!
Right now I am sitting overlooking a beautiful mountain range in the middle of the DR, I wish I could send a picture of it but unfortunately the internet signal here isn’t strong enough to upload such material. We are currently up in the mountain town of Montacitos… and when i say mountains i mean mountains! Without a four-wheel drive a truck wouldn’t be able to make it up, so there aren’t many trucks but motorbikes are the main mode of transportation.  The temperature is a pleasant twenty-five degrees but it cools off to a little below ten at night.
In Montacitos we are camping beside a church building and the school which is actually a Compassion School. The church, funny enough, is called Iglesia Evangelica Menonita, however there are no Mennonites around like I would think of them, they are all Dominicans and they are super friendly. We met with the pastor yesterday, Domingo, and together we came up with a plan for the next couple of weeks. We will be teaching an English school each evening, going door to door evangelizing, preaching and singing at church services (there are about four a week) and then spending some free time playing with kids. This is interesting as no one here speaks English, and there is only one person in our group of eight who can speak fluent Spanish, so almost all of what we say goes through him. Most of the others in my group have at least taken Spanish classes in high school so they have at least some communication, but I am lost!
Hopefully when we go down the mountain to get supplies I can upload some pictures of where we are staying. Pray that God would overcome the language barrier and that His purposes would be accomplished. I hope that everyone is doing well! Adios!
