I am home, sitting in my parents living room as I write this. My 11 month journey came to a completion at the end of August. I am now immersed back into American culture and society again. Being home is strange. I have any food I want just a short drive away. I have air conditioning. I have a washer and dryer at my disposal and a hot shower whenever I feel like taking one. I have a cell phone, that is also a computer that I can access my email and every other social networking application with a swipe of my finger. What I do not have, however is a true grasp on this whole reality.

Why is it that we have all of these things here? I was honestly worried that I would come home and be disgusted by the amount of waste I saw and the miniscule things people complain about. The truth of it is, I am, but sadly it is so easy to join in on that behavior. I try to go to sleep at night and my brain decides that it's processing time. I go back through conversations and things that happened throughout my day. It is easy to think of the world race as a dream. I think it is because I am the only one that really knows what happened to me. I have been asked mostly the same questions; So how was it? Where was your favorite country? Did you eat any weird food? All natural questions to ask I suppose, however I have this memory bank full of images and experiences and lessons that I have a strange desire to share. So I will do that through my blog and of course in conversation if you'd like!

To those of you that know me and have been following my blog, I apologize for not posting sooner. Starting in Kenya, a strange thing happened, I could not and had no desire to write. I wrote in my journal, well “vented” to my journal, but I could not sit down and write a blog. This is the first of 5 blogs that I will write to recap each country since Kenya. I will continue blogging beyond these 5 also and will begin to share lessons I learned and retrospective thoughts of my time on The World Race. I also have about 6000 pictures to go through so I may sometimes just post photo blogs. This blog will be posted on my World Race blog page, and my wordpress blog page, I may actually duplicate the next 4, however after that I will only be posting to my wordpress site. So please click HERE to get an email whenever I update that blog. Click on the follow tab in the lower right hand corner and enter your email address.
