On the World Race, we do a little thing called MANISTRY. It’s a time where the men and women go do their separate ministries for the month. Month five in China was our month, and we got to do something a little special!
China is difficult for ministry opportunities for a large group, so the goal was to just travel overland along different routes in Western China, let the Holy Spirit lead as we walked and have a blast as we go. Our team (#TeamWingIt) chose a pretty popular route, and mayyy have made a little detour. Now here’s a little glimpse of what the World Race looks like:
The World Race looks like 27 and 19 hour train rides. But the views are (almost) always worth it.

The World Race looks like finding free food wherever you can.
The World Race looks like wandering Tibetan cities like Shangri-La and finding a nightly city-sized dance party.
The World Race looks like trying new and interesting drinks and foods. Sometimes they’re incredible. Sometimes you look like this after.
The World Race looks like catching a ride on some Tibetan horses in a beautiful campo and riding buses 15,000+ feet feet up.

The World Race looks like hitchhiking when you’re tired of walking to a destination you aren’t quite sure exists.
The World Race looks like seeing adorable animals and then one of your favorite animals hopping out of their enclosure and walking by you and letting you pet them (shameless heart eyes emojis galore).

The World Race looks like stumbling upon sports-focused university (which includes kung fu) and being allowed to join in on anything. It looks like finally getting to play basketball after almost 5 months off!
The World Race looks like accidentally taking a 27 hour train ride in the wrong direction and ending up near the Great Wall! But the World Race also looks like not getting to do everything you want. Sometimes it looks like being on a time crunch and people not speaking your language and your plans for something great don’t work out. So sadly, no pics of the Great Wall.
The World Race looks like having to take another 19 hour train back to your original destination just to be back on time to travel to the next country with the squad. On that train ride you may meet the Chinese version of the Golden Girls and get fed a few thousand different snacks and hear a few terrible renditions of their favorite songs while you’re trying to sleep, but you can’t help but laugh.
The World Race looks like whatever you make it.
#TeamWingIt did things right this month. I am truly thankful for the men on my squad and the time we got to bro out over this month! Kazakhstan, you’re next!
