Here is a story from Mozambique, Africa. Jake Morris is a squad
leader on the January 2011 U Squad. Here is his story:
——————————————————————————————————–
“She could hardly walk when she came to us, and she returned to her village jumping and dancing. She came because she heard that people were being healed,” said Jake.
“I’m sorry, can you say that again? Did you say that she couldn’t walk on her own when you met her?” I asked. For the next forty-five minutes, Jake shared the story of God’s power shown in the bush of Mozambique, one of the most interesting and awe-inspiring I’d ever heard.
An elderly woman had gotten wind of people being healed so she went to where Jake and
team Fruit of the Groom were. She came alone, walking slowly and painfully toward them. Jake continued:

“We asked God to touch her body and prayed that He would be glorified in it. He totally healed her. She started jumping and dancing around and hurried back to her village to tell them what God had just done.”
This woman whose walking was labored now moved with ease. Pretty soon, other women from the village were coming to be healed.
Jake and the team have been serving alongside a pastor in Mpatso, Mozambique, right on the border of Malawi. They live in the bush without luxuries like running toilets and four walls with a roof attached to the top. Day after day, the team ventures out to preach the gospel and pray for healing.
On the first day of their ministry, at least 200 people responded to their invitation for prayer and over 100 were healed! As they laid hands on each person, back pain subsided, chest pain disappeared, ears and eyes were opened, and legs were healed. They prayed for over four hours and many came to Christ.
One woman came to them with a completely deaf ear.
Berdien Ephraim asked the woman to cover the ear that she could hear clearly out of. They stood side by side and Berdien clapped her hands next to the deaf ear. She heard nothing.
They prayed healing over her, and once again, God responded miraculously. They moved away from the woman, putting significant distance between them and the woman they were praying over. She covered her good ear again; this time, she heard four claps from Berdien.
Beneath their very hands, bodies were made whole in Jesus’ name. One woman was almost blind. After the team prayed for her, her vision was restored and she was able to read her Bible for the first time in years.
The next day, they ministered at a different location where the entire village accepted Christ.
Not every prayer for physical healing was answered; at least, not immediately nor in the way they’d thought. Jake said they’ve gained a deeper understanding of the power of prayer:
“It’s one thing to know intellectually that prayer moves mountains, but to actually see it is something totally different. There has been doubt for sure. We’re asking questions like ‘Is this really happening? Are all of these people really being healed?’ but it is strengthening everyone’s faith. This team prays with boldness and faith.”
He concluded, “The most important thing we’ve realized is that when we pray, we pray that God will be glorified in the healing. We don’t just pray that they are physically healed; we pray that they come to know the love of
