What up squadmates! So a couple of weeks ago, I was reading Radical by David Platt. I'm sure many of you have read it/heard about it, but for those who haven't, it's basically a call to live radical lives for Jesus and not sit idly by as worldly culture permeates the church. It's a great book and you should all definitely read. What I like about this book though, and reason I'm writing a blog about it, is the fact that the last chapter of the book is called The Radical Experiment. In it, Platt outlines a plan to spend a period of time living radically and see how you like it. Cool right?

When I was reading this, I just thought about how cool it would be if we did the radical experiment as a squad! I mean, we'll pretty much be doing all of it anyway, but it would be sweet if we actually made sure we did it.

Here's what the experiment is:

Commit 1 year of your life to the experiment (hmm, I feel like we'll be already doing something for a year. Perhaps start at training camp and make it officially a year?)

And the 5 components are:

1. Pray for the entire world. It would be so cool if we committed to praying for every country in the entire world. Plus, we'll be in a bunch of them at one time or another; we should probably be praying for them. Platt says that this is the step we are most likely to overlook and yet the one that is most dangerous for us to ignore.

2. Read through the entire Word. Let's read the bible in a year. It would be great bonding for the team and none of us can ever get too much scripture.

3. Sacrifice your money for a specific purpose. How about for fighting sex trafficking? Or for loving on orphans? Or for building a church in the middle of Africa? Yeah, I think we can do this next year.

4. Spend your time in another context. I don't think this needs any explanation for us…

5. Commit your life to a multiplying community. I am so excited for this on the race, and another one of these that is a no-brainer for us. It's gonna be great!

I know a lot of these we will be doing without committing to the radical experiment, but I would love for us to come together and commit to praying for the world and reading the entire bible together.

Who's with me?
