Below you will find a blog post about sky miles that an Alumni posted. You can do this. Let me warn you that we have you on really cheap flights so most of the time you are flying on an airline that is not a part of an alliance.
You will not be able to get any upgrades or change your ticket in anyway because all tickets are purchased with group rates. here is the info.
INFO:
- There are 3 airline alliances on this green earth of ours
- STAR ALLIANCE (28 airlines) / SKY TEAM (14 airlines) / ONE WORLD (13 airlines)
- There is 1 major American company with each of the 3 alliances.
- STAR ALLIANCE::United SKY TEAM::Delta ONE WORLD::American Airlines
- United is my fav. And they have the most partner airlines-you will fly their partner airlines most next year
- The easiest thing to do is sign up with each of these 3 U.S. airlines, which will mean you are signed up with each of the 3 alliances.
- When you check in at the counter at the airport the 10 billion times on this race (which I really do love, I LOVE flying :), all you do is give them your membership number for whichever alliance they are partnered with. For Example (on Nov. 20th, I fly LOT Polish Airlines on my flight from Ukraine to Poland, then from Poland to New York. So, when I check in at the counter in both airports, I will give the agent my United Airlines membership number, because LOT is a partner with United airlines and Star Alliance. So all of my Star Alliance miles feed into my United Airlines member number. This year of flying I'll have earned a round trip ticket to any where in the world, FREE! LEGIT, HUH? I'm stoked!
- Thus, you are collecting airline miles on the three major U.S. airline companies, which you can use for visiting your future racer friends scattered all over the world and their new baby's in 5 years 🙂
- ONE EXCEPTION: some airlines aren't a part of any alliance, or have their 'own' miles rewards you have to sign up individually on their airline "Virgin," OR… don't have any 'sky miles' club, and make you a little nervous when you see duct tape above your head to hold the luggage cabin together. These are the fun one's :)))
Follow these 4 easy steps to being on your way to earning free flights:
STEPS:
1) Join each of the 3 airline alliances (Star Alliance, Sky Team, and One World) by going to the major American company and joining their MILES REWARDS program. IT'S FREE!!!!!!!!!!
For Star Alliance, go to United
For Sky Team, go to Delta
For One World, go to American Airlines
2) Write down your "Membership" number for each of these three.
3) When you check in at the airport in Thailand, Romania, wherever, give them your "Membership" number for whichever american company they are partnered with.
(for example: I'm flying LOT Polish Airlines out of Europe. So I give them my United Membership number, because LOT is a partner airline with United, and LOT is under Star Alliance. Therefore, I earned 6,000 United sky miles for flying on LOT! Half needed for a free roundtrip)
4) Click this link: Noe's Flight Inventory
Download or Open the doc. This has a list of each Alliance, and WHICH airlines fall under them. Very handy. So you'll know which "Alliance" your flying with each flight you take.
And if your heart so desires, you can take a look at my fight tracking, and copy or come up with something similar if you're nerdy like me and like to keep 'track' of things 🙂
P.S. You can also visit the websites of the three alliances.
