Our office was flooded with emails and phone calls today about our Challenge–we are so excited. Everyone asked the same question…"I'm totally up for the challenge, butwWhat are acts of faith?" So as promised, here are some ideas.
FYI–Need something to blog about? We want to read all about your experiences on your BLOG And I like details. Tell me the story about how nervous you were doing these things. You readers will love it!
I have raised support for several years and I do these crazy kind of things all the time. In fact next weekend Jake and I are sitting down with a rich doctor for dinner and we are personally going to ask him to write us a check for $15,000 to our support account. Why not, the worst thing he can say is no. And by the way…expect big and you will be surprised at the big $$$ you receivet. Expect several $1,000 gifts. Expect a $10,000 check. Expect your trip to be paid for by December 31st!
The key is that God has all of your heart during this process. Most upcoming Racers have negative voices around them–whether they are parents, extended family or whomever. The key to your success is to be CONFIDENT that the Lord has called you to this. When that happens, you can choose to be CONFIDENT when you act in faith.
Last thing…let your supporters know your goal. If you feel led to believe for $7,500 by the 31st. Tell your supporters, "I need $7,500 by the 31st." People generally work better with deadlines.
Here are some ideas:
- Send out your letters/postcards or any marketing piece
- Talk to business owners about getting in their end-of the year tax deductible donation.
- Confidently follow up with someone you sent a letter to.
- Get people to subscribe to your blog.
- Schedule an appointment with your pastor and boldly ask him if you can stand in front of the church, speak and receive a "Love offereing,."
- Call your grandma and ask her if she can ask her pastor if you can speak and their church.
- Call your aunt and ask her if she can ask her pastor if you can speak at their church.
- Call your best friend in Texas and ask him to ask his pastor if you can speak at their church (get the drift)
- Who do you know…do they have connections…boldly ask them to make a connection for you.
- Is your Uncle on a Missions board, make the connection with him and put in a proposal.
- Who's Bible Study group wants to have you come speak and then take up a collection for you.
- Who's Bible Study group will throw a Spaghetti night dinner for you? Ask someone to do this for you.
- Ask 5 people to have a garage sale for you and give you the proceeds.
- Call your neighbor.
- Talk to somone on the bus.
- Call the person you are fearing to call.
- Contact a country music star (someone did this and they got a check for the whole thing..fyi)
- Find a band who will play at a bar and give you the tips.
- Book with a restaurant that will give you 20% of the proceeds from that day.
- Hold a 3 on 3 tournament and put $600 in your account.
- Have your momma fry some turkeys and do a fundraiser with all her quilting buddies.
- For Pete's SAKE….Do anything your creative mind can come up with.!!!
