One of the most unexpected things I’ve encountered on the race is the beautiful sisterhood that has blossomed within my team. I knew at training camp when we all first met that we would get along, but I never expected the strong bond that we have now. It’s a bond united souly in Christ, and rooted in the foundation of who He says we are, His beloved daughters.
Whether it be through everyday conversation, a hard confrontation, or one of our many good laughs these girls overflow with the unbridled joy of the Lord! Funny thing that our team name happens to be just that, joy. We came up with that word so quickly at training camp, it was a word that had been impressed into all of our hearts before we were even asked to choose a team name. How wonderful is it to think that God placed that word in each of our hearts? Six girls from all over the United States, coast to coast, were hand picked to be together for nine months under the title of joy. He knew all along that this word would travel with us and be a reminder to us during the good times and the bad. A reminder to choose joy daily. A reminder that I know I need often. Man, do these girls push me to chase that down hard.
I see so much of the Lord through each of these lovely six girls. Like pockets of sunshine they radiate His light in the darkness of the world. Seeing their hearts and learning of their ambitions and dreams in life only grows my appreciation of who the Lord has created them to be. These new found sisters that I have grown to love to deeply are teaching me a lot. Saying I’m thankful for them would be an understatement. God has blessed me with a team that is family now.
As we continue on to the second half of our race we still have a ways to go. We have room for growth, room for depth, and room for laughter. But most importantly we have room to learn. God has already revealed so many things to each of us that we have been able to share with one another, and I know He has even more planned. Doing life with these girls has taught me so much that I could not have learned on my own. I cannot wait to see what else is in store for our team, I’ll let you know in a few months!
