So it is day 10 and I am just now sitting down to write a blog. So many things have happened since I last wrote: 3 days of debrief as a squad in San Jose, Costa Rica, then the daunting DAYS of travel. We left San Jose around 4 in the afternoon on the 31st. We later landed in LAX with just enough time to bring in the New Year on American soil (the last place I’d be this year), and then took off for Hong Kong at 11 am. By the time we took off for our flight to Manila, Philippines, it was Feb. 2. With only a few hours of sleep in 2 1/2 days, we were all very confused as to where we were, what day it was, and the time. Mac made a fun airport travel day video of our squad! http://macmitchell.theworldrace.org/?filename=ssquad-shenanigans-video and his other video 10,000 miles in 5 minutes http://macmitchell.theworldrace.org/?filename=10000-miles-in-5-minutes-video

We landed on the beautiful island town of Puerto Galera, Philippines working with an organization called Threads of Hope. The founder is Alex who actually met us at the airport and spent a few days with us in Puerto Galera getting to know the area and Filipino family we are staying with. Alex and his family are Americans who live in Manila doing full- time ministry. I encourage you to visit http://threadsofhope.com.ph/about.htm to hear more about Alex’s story on how Threads of Hope all began. It’s a pretty incredible story.

This month is all about relationships. Building relationships with women around the village and on the beach and being a source of encouragement to them and helping them develop a deeper relationship with Christ, while also demonstrating His love to them. Selling bracelets on the beach is hard work and often they are not treated well. We desire for them to feel loved and respected and that they have value and worth in the eyes of who is most important: our faithful, loving God. Thanks for reading! More to come…
