“Tell the people to do good, that they be rich in doing good deeds, ready to give, and willing to share.”

–          1 Timothy 6:18

For years I desired to do more than just go through the motions of this life. I desired more. I needed more. So much of my time was spent around people, shopping for things I didn’t really need but wanted, and busying myself with everything. My thought, at the time, was that if get more for myself then I’ll have more of what I wanted out of life. In many ways I was selfish and pretty closed off from everything. I was physically there, but I wasn’t really involved in the things happening around me.

Soon after, I became frustrated and angry. Why wasn’t this enough? My friends and family were always there for me and willing to hang out. I was able to go to the movies and out to eat among other things. It bothered me a lot, so I began to pray about it. I realized what bothered me was that so many people in my life were there for me, but what was I giving back in return to them? Being physically present wasn’t enough from me. It was too easy and became routine. I was quickly becoming complacent in a material world.

I came to the conclusion that what I needed more was to give back to those who gave so much to me. I wanted to give people my time, my effort, my support, and my love. Just as they had done for me. With this, I began making changes, a little bit at a time. I tried to be more helpful and find opportunities to serve others.  I put my phone down and took the time and energy to listen and engage with friends and family. I began to be present in life. It felt good and it made me happier. This was the beginning of “more.” I was learning about love and how to love others in return.

“Whoever gives to others will get richer; those who help others will themselves be helped.”

-Proverbs 11:25

Learning to love changed me and the goals for my life. So my passion for mission work began. I prayed often and for an opportunity to love God’s people by helping out in communities by serving His children, all while growing in my faith and gaining a better understanding of the world. Two weeks later I read about a friend having the opportunity to take part on The World Race. I began to research this huge mission and knew this was the work God was calling me to.

After applying for The World Race, I prayed and I waited. It wasn’t long after that I accepted God’s invitation to travel the world and to serve His people. Although I am very blessed to be a part of this journey, it isn’t about me. It’s about the people. All of them, everywhere in the world. It’s about leaving “my world” behind to meet and serve humanity.

Mission and humanitarian work is an act of love but isn’t accomplished with only a few people. It is achieved by all of us working together to help one another. Love is a combination of hard work, faith, generosity, sacrifice, humility, patience, understanding, and to live life for each other.

“We all need to be loved, but I believe our personal joy is strongly connected to loving others. Something beautiful happens in our hearts when we give.”

–          Joyce Meyer

In an effort to love God’s children, I ask that you consider supporting this mission financially by donating. No amount is too small. Just as I have accepted to be a part of this journey, I am inviting you to be a part of it too through your support. I am excited to share with you over the next year and a half how love changes lives.

“God has given each of us a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.”
