Start the day in Haiti. Put the packs in the school bus then put 50 people in on top of that (and I do mean on top of). Drive to the bus station and play some frisbee while you wait. Get on the bus, sigh it has air conditioning (Praise the Lord)!!! Try to sleep. Cross the Haiti/Dominican Republic border.
Pull out sleeping pad and sleep in the airport. Get on a flight to Miami FL. Oh WAIT!!! Before getting on the plane get escorted down the hall to an office where you can see them searching people’s bags, stand at the table while the Woman writes stuff down in a notebook. Get escorted back to the plane and now you can get on. Sit on the plane and wait, and wait, they are having issues and we are late taking off. Arrive in FL. and go through customs then RUN! We are the last to board our flight to L.A. Take a deep breath, all 62 of us made it on.
Land in L.A. and realize that not all our bags made it on the flight with us. It’s ok we have a 12 hour layover. Call Mom and Dad, say hello, I’m in the same State as you right now! Eat Panda Express. Wash hair in bathroom sink.
Get on another plane, this time for 14 hours!!! Watch 2 movies, a T.V. show and play some games. Have dinner on the plane at about 3 in the morning (that was a lil weird). Get off at Hong Kong. We can use Facebook!!! Only there for 2 hours (time for teammates to get their Starbucks fix).
Get on the last flight down to Thailand. Land in Bangkok, go through customs and get our bags, all made it!!! Almost there. Take a Tok tok (small taxi truck thing) to the bus station. Ride the bus for 12 hours. Eat a chocolate filled donut and have your first Thai food.
Get picked up at the bus station with two pickup trucks, one has seats in the back. Ride 30 min. to the house we are staying at. First order of business: a shower!!!
Total: 2 bus’s, 4 flights, 1 Tok tok, and 1 truck = 4 Days of Travel.
WOW! I’m glad that’s over but it had it’s fun points…..
