I’ve never been a resolutions kind of person but this year I might make an exception…sort of.

This will be a year of craziness – especially come September.

Even before launch, life isn’t and doesn’t have to be monotonous, boring, less exciting etc.

So here is what I am proposing: 2014 be a year of adventure.

8 of the 12 months I’ll be still living in Atlanta and I don’t want those months to be spent just waiting for something new and amazing to begin. I’m hoping that these thoughts and ideas do more than just inspire me but that you will also think of the things you want to explore this year.

What exactly am I talking about?

I know that for myself it can be easy to forget about the wonders of the world because I get caught up in my day-to-day, I have the list of errands to run, things to remember, people to meet with, deadlines to meet- whatever it is- it’s there, and we all get caught up with these things.

I want to live this year differently.

  1. I want to love people: Not only the consistent and close friends but the people I talk to for 30 seconds (or less!) throughout my day: at the store, restaurant, park, gas station, museum. Bonus: you never know what kind of day they are having -offering a genuine smile and a few seconds of your time could make their day!
  2.  I want to grow: both in knowing and challenging myself, knowing God, and walking out more forgiveness – there is still so much available and I want to go after it! Guaranteed to never be boring haha.
  3. I want hobbies: I realized since I quit swimming, I haven’t really gotten to know myself enough to find out what I like to do with my free time. I am excited to explore! Photography, reading, painting, writing, pottery, hiking- all of it! Knowing myself ill bounce between several and decide that I like most of them!
  4.  I want to have eyes wide open: so much beauty is in this world and I’ve rarely ventured out to admire it …I’ve lived in the same area for 10 years and I’ve gone to see very few places just for the enjoyment of seeing and experiencing them – now I plan to J. (Naturally I’ll be bringing my camera to apply #3!)
  5.  I want to laugh: There is so much fun and enjoyment in this world…we are funny creatures in itself. I want to come to a place of freedom to where I am able to laugh heartily, not because life suddenly becomes easier but because I have a new understanding of my source of joy. Laughter is just too great a thing to miss out on!

This year doesn’t have to be ‘just another year’, and I’m hoping I don’t make it one.

I’m allowing myself to dream and I want to invite you to do the same this year. Sometimes the most amazing moments happen when you allow yourself to disconnect from the ordinary, connect with God and go on an adventure!
