Our ministry this month in India has been at SCH- Sarah’s Covenant Homes. Sarah founded this place based on her desire to adopt a child. She found herself taking in 10+ children when she first started the home and then she kept going back to bring more home. She has a passion to help provide a home for children who are abandoned related to disabilities and considered unlovable in today’s society.

Sarah’s Covenant Homes rescues abandoned children with neurological and developmental special needs and provide them with love, education, therapy, medical and surgical care and life in JESUS. These children are most likely to be abandoned and the least likely to be adopted in India.

The vision for Sarah’s Covenant Homes is to provide the children with the next-best thing to a traditional family…love, growth, laughter, nurture and more love!

I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to love on these kids everyday while we have been here. It really is so encouraging knowing these kids have a roof over their head, food and someone to take care of them. SCH is committed to their children and young adults—kids won’t “age out” of this place and be sent to an institution or released to fend for themselves. SCH knows they can never replace a loving biological or adoptive family, and their prayer and desire is many of the children will eventually be placed in wonderful adoptive families.

There are over 120 children who have transferred to SCH from government orphanages. Feel free to check out the SCH website at: www.schindia.com. There are still lots of children who are in need of a sponsor to help provide each child with the proper medical care, education, physiotherapy, nutrition and supplements. Please help us pray for sponsors to help these children out and to be adopted!

One of the babies I have been working with is Ella. She just came to SCH on March 4th. Ella was born in January  with a possible diagnosis of Edwards Syndrome- a.k.a as Trisomy 18 (T18)—results pending. This is a very rare genetic disorder caused by the presence of all or part of an extra 18th chromosome. Edwards Syndrome occurs in about one in 6,000 live births and around 80 percent are females.

ELLA

Ella has proved to be a fighter and has been making progress, which shows daily. When carrying her around, it feels like you are holding a feather she’s so tiny, weighing only 2.8lbs. Ella has a beautiful smile and gorgeous big brown eyes. When feeding her she’ll wrap her hand around one of my fingers and squeeze on tight.  We believe she will outlive what medical literature and doctors say. Why? Because she is full of the Lord’s favor and grace.

Here are some pictures of me interacting with Ella:

“He called a little child and had him stand among them.  And he said: “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.  Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.  “And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.  But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.”  Matthew 18:2-6
