So, here I am in a hotel in Charleston, after a nice day at the beach, dinner and wandering the city with my family. Life lately has been super crazy. I don’t even think I can begin to describe all that has happened but I’ll try. : – )
1. NEXT 2010. I went to Baltimore for Sovereign Grace’s annual single/young adult conference. This year was a bit different because they had affinity groups where you could meet with people from your profession/career interest. I went to the missions affinity group and it was amazing. I was able to network with different people within the missions field and I met some great people. For some reason prior to leaving I had this impression from the Lord that He would provide for my World Race trip at the conference. Here I was thinking “okay God that’s cool. If you want to completely fund my trip at NEXT I’m up for that.” Of course this wasn’t the Lord’s plan but it was SO much better! I was able to meet with several organizations including The International Justice Mission and Voice of the Martyrs. Several men in these organizations GAVE me TEN books on everything from justice, modern day slavery, and witnessing to people in the 10/40 windows. I was extremely blessed during the whole trip. When I leave for the World Race in January I will have a much better understanding of the issues the each country is dealing with and I will better understand God’s passion for justice and His love for us.
2. I got an internship with WORLD MAGAZINE!!!! I still can’t quite believe it. I’ll be working with the associate editor to take press releases and turn them into stories. I’ll get school credit for it and I might even get published! I can’t wait to get experience so that way I can improve my writing before leaving in January. I’m thinking of writing a memoir of my experiences, or turning my blog into a book later.
3. I got a GRANT to cover my tuition for my last semester in college. This means that I can complete my minor in Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights. I will be using my internship with World Magazine for three credits and then all I have left is my other 9 credits for my minor. I will become more aware of the issues in my minor for each country… I can’t wait to put all of this into practice and represent the Lord in the nations.
4. I’v sent out a good portion of my support letters which is a huge blessing in and of itself. I can’t believe that I was able to get it written and mail some of them out. I am sighing a HUGE breath of relief right now. All thats left to do is pray and trust the Lord and follow up with people as much as possible. : – ) I can’t wait to see what the Lord will do in these next few weeks!
5. I have an REI gift registry now. If you would like to help out in this way, I would very much appreciate it. Going to the store and registering was so much fun.
PRAYER REQUESTS:
1. Please pray for me this monday. I will be having an MRI to see if my tumor has grown back. I have been having pain and numbness in my arm and so we’re checking to see if it came back. If it did I will have to have surgery and then recovery (which I plan to speed up by doing OT EVERY DAY probably around 5 times a day). I plan on bouncing back quick from this if there is a problem.
2. I got into a slight car accident in the post office parking lot. I’m okay and my car is pretty much okay but the other person has a slight dent in his car. The police ruled that they could not determine who was at fault but the other party is trying to say that it was completely my fault. Please pray that my insurance would agree with me that it was not completely my fault and that our insurance premiums would not go up. I figure that because I have no record, I’ve never gotten pulled over for speeding or anything else, and I’ve never gotten into any accidents it will reflect well to the insurance company.
Anyways, I hope you all are doing well and that you have a blessed weekend.!!! If you need prayer for anything please call. : – )
