NAME [neym] noun
- a word or a combination of words by which a person, place, or thing, a body or class, or any object of thought is designated, called, or known.
- a personal or family name as exercising influence or bringing distinction
- to identify, specify, or mention by name
One task of training was to come up with a team name. We wanted something powerful; something that embodied our purpose; something that identified our passion. We thought about translating a word to another language, but for now we are sticking with English.
So after some discussion and deliberation….drum roll please…we will now be known as team
AWAKEN.
This word was inspired in several ways. First, we know that it is the heart of Jesus for every person to awaken to His love; to awaken to a new life in Him. He has imparted His heart to each one of us. Second, it is a dream of AIM to bring a generation fully alive in Christ. We have each adopted this dream as our own. Third, we are on a journey of our own to become awakened. We want to speak life into every person we encounter. We want them to wake up to the life Christ has for them. We want God to speak to you through our blogs and videos. Every step of the way we are praying for people to come alive.
Awaken, brothers and sisters, rise up.
For me personally, I feel like I have been dead to the Spirit and numb to the power and movements of God for so long. I have had so many things other than God to give my dependence. I feel like I have ignored His voice so much that I am deaf to what He is saying. But slowly I am being awakened. I am hearing His voice. I am coming alive!!
So, this is the focus and purpose my teammates and I have set for this year. Please check out their blogs to see how the Lord is coming fully alive in our encounters and in their lives. Also, they tell some great stories that I have not posted about hospital visits, a night with friends and church.
Awake, awake O sleeper, rise from the dead and Christ will shine on YOU. (Ephesians 5:14)
