I remember the moment like it was yesterday, the first night at our ministry location in Africa (Month 6 of The Race: Sumbawanga, Tanzania). It was cold … very cold. Since when was Africa cold?!?! We had just flew over from Ukraine a few days earlier, and I wasn’t particularly stoked to be living in Africa for three months. (P.S. I love you, Europe).

I had just finished brushing and flossing my teeth in the courtyard… about ready to go to bed … on my air mattress in my tent (I had no desire to be eaten by mosquitoes and other crawling things in the middle of the night). However, my malaria symptoms would soon start kicking in in the next few days, anyways.

I was walking around by myself in the little courtyard area … letting my mind wander and thinking about how not happy I was to be in Africa. All of a sudden, as clear as day, the still, small voice said to me, “Julie, you will be back in Africa.” Ahhhhhh! A huge wave of fear and anxiety hit me. I really was not okay with that. Inaudibly I said, “Please no, please do not make me come back here. I don’t like it.”

Regardless of my attitude, He fulfilled His prophecy. I’ll be hopping on a plane in the coming weeks. I’m going to Africa. And … I’m just a bit stoked about it!  =)
