Since I signed up for the Race, one of the things that I hear most often is to try not to have any expectations. In a bizarre twist, The World Race also recommends that racers write a blog about their expectations. Hmm…

It’s quite impossible not to have expectations when embarking on a journey such as this… so I’m fairly certain what they meant by "don’t have expectations" is probably closer to "don’t get too attached to a particular country or ministry or some other random thing you’ve read about from previous racers and wanted to do, because God plan and this trip are wholly unpredictable, thus, things will change at a moments notice and you’ll probably be disappointed."

So in no particular order, I present the top 11 expectations of The World Race, that I would have, if I were in fact to have any expectations. Which I don’t. 😉

I expect to miss my family. And my Chihuahua.

I expect to be strengthened by the Holy Spirit as I face challenges.

I expect to hate travel days. I’m crabby when I don’t get enough sleep.

I expect to develop lifelong friendships and make lasting memories.

I expect to pee my pants. I’ve read blogs about being trapped in the back of the bus for hours, unable to move. I have a small bladder. It’s bound to happen… Someone will make me laugh and then… I apologize in advance to whoever is sitting next to me.

I expect to expand my faith and become increasingly reliant on God.

I expect that I will have many moments where I think, "What the heck am I doing here?"

I expect to find joy in the little things in life.

I expect to miss the conveniences of home. Like showers and beds and indoor plumbing and American food.

I expect to return to the USA a changed person.

I expect God to show up in miraculous ways for the sole purpose of bringing Glory to His name!
