HEY EVERYONE! Check out my awesome teammate Raquel Stewart‘s blog at http://raquelstewart.theworldrace.org/

Hmm, well I believe I have lived a pretty normal life. I was born the youngest of three kids with an older brother and sister. At six years old my mom died of lung cancer so my dad raised us as best as he could alone for three years. Then he remarried, when I was nine, to a wonderful woman who legally adopted us kids as her own a few years later.

My family traveled regularly when I was younger: all over the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Singapore to name a few. After high school, I attend college at Cottey College, a two year private woman’s college in Nevada, MO. During my last year there, the college gave the last year students an opportunity to travel to England for two weeks, but I spent the second week in Ireland visiting family.

After college I was hired by NANA services for contract work to work five months at McMurdo Station, Antarctica. I was a Dining Attendant and , to answer the question now, I found the job on Craiglist. I thought it was sketchy at the time when I found it, but NANA was working for Raytheon and my brother’s father-in-law who works for them, told me he had heard about the program and to go for it. It was an amazing experience that I would not mind repeating. We got to fly there through New Zealand and back. Sadly, I didn’t get to spend as much time as I had planned in New Zealand on the way back as the second earthquake in Christchurch hit where I was staying. This was the earthquake that toppled the old church and we had to be evacuated out.

After that I took sometime off before leaving to join the Army Reserves. I am currently a Signals Collection Analyst for the Army.

As of right now, I am the manager for a retail store Anime World at our local mall and am currently finishing up my Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies at Liberty University Online. For those who do not know what Interdisciplinary Studies are, the major is made up of three cognates of our choice. A cognate is similar to a minor where I have to do 15 credits in each cognate but I have more freedom in choosing which classes I want to take. My cognates are Business Management Information Systems, Psychology, and Religion.

I thank God for allowing me to be apart of the World Race and I look forward to meeting everyone!
