About me?
Ahhh, that's such a hard question to answer in one sitting. Ok, so there's a start- I'm a talker. (Don't let my initial quietness fool you. As soon as you ask me something, I'll probably tell you a series of stories- and none of which will directly answer your question.)
I was born and raised in East Tennessee. I have the voice of a southerner and the heart of a European. I love coffee and running and good books and photography. I really love new places and writing. My brain is equally left-sided and right-sided. Innately structured and organized, I'm also immensely passionate about adventure and all things creative. I believe in pursuing dreams and working hard. And I interpret the world through experiences, reflection and words. Silence is just as dear to me as conversation, and I could live out the rest of my life in yoga pants.
Not long ago, my adult life looked completely different than it does now.
I grew up in the Methodist church. But I had my first real encounter with Jesus in 2009- just after I hit my personal version of "rock bottom."
He took on my very logical nature… and won. Each and every day, He freely takes on my pride and self-righteousness. He's showing me, a wretched sinner, love and grace. He's given me security and shelter. He's opened my eyes to true wisdom and spiritual discernment. He's promised me challenges and hard times. And He's also promised me perseverance and hope. He's teaching me what it means to be a Daughter of Christ. And to be honest… it's hard. But admist the difficulty, it's so, so good.
So, why the World Race?
Well, it's rather simple. Jesus is calling me to go into the world. Why? Honestly, I'm not 100% sure. But for the first time ever, venturing into the unknown with utter dependence and complete trust in my Father excites me.
I'm excited to break free from the lingering feeling that I need to have it all figured out. I'm excited to be changed and to witness change. I'm excited to struggle and feel and endure. I'm excited to hurt for the world and to smile for it. I'm excited to be His hands and feet. I'm excited to grow closer to Him and to love the ones He calls me to love. I'm excited to listen and pray. But more than anything… I'm excited to watch Him do what only He can.
