This past weekend I was able to do something I never thought I would be able to do – I saw Mount Everest. It was everything I could have imagined, and more. I sat in the air and almost cried because I felt so complete. I even compared seeing Mount Everest to my wedding day, and said even that will fall short (haha, sorry future husband). No amount of pictures or videos will ever do it justice. You had to have been there. I put together a little video, but it pales in comparison to what our eyes actually beheld.

My teammate, Caitlin wrote a blog about it, check it out! (http://caitlincarpenter.theworldrace.org/post/on-top-of-the-world

But to highlight my favorite part, she references Genesis and the creation of the world. When God created Mount Everest, He said “It is good” (JUST GOOD) and when He created us, He called us “VERY good!”

That same moment when Mount Everest took my breath away, I imagine that is how God looks at us. That when He sees His children, He is absolutely totally smitten with them that it takes His breath away. Now imagine God looking down on you with a little glisten in His eye and a huge smile on His face. Can you picture it? Do you even believe that is how He looks at you? Because I am here to tell you, it is.

What an incredible thought. I want to wake up each day believing that my God loves me and looks at me with such awe and wonder. That I am His most prized creation. If I truly believed that, I would be living each day much differently. I would be living in total assurance and freedom. It’s something I want to strive for. I want to look at myself and know that even in my brokenness, God see’s something marvelous.

Ah.. I could soak in that thought all day.

Anyway, enjoy this little video! And REMINDER: It does not do it justice, so sorry about that!
