We are celebrating Thanksgiving here in Cambodia and it’s easy to think of things that I’m truly grateful for. Living on an orphanage this month has really made me appreciate the things I have in my life. From a bed, to hot water and AC there are so many things I take for granted back home that I’m much more aware of now.

The 43 kids we live with don’t have families or parents that are there for them.  How often do I take the love of my parents for granted? I’m so thankful that I have parents (in general) back home who love me so much that it radiates halfway across the world. I’m so thankful for my siblings and my niece Everly, and dog-nephew. (I know Beirut is just a dog, but I’m almost 100% convinced he misses me and is thankful for me, too.)

The kids have taught me what it looks like to be thankful and even more so what it looks like to have a giving heart.  This month was a time of reflection, to get back to my childlike roots and be thankful for the little (and sometimes big) things we take for granted each day.

I made a short video of what a normal day looks like in Cambodia. It may not seem like much to you, but the joy that radiates here is contagious. There has been so much laughter and even more growth that I’ve experienced this month that I’m excited for the way it changes me in the future!

As you head into your Thanksgiving festivities tomorrow, I hope you take a moment to reflect on the things you may take for granted in your daily life and give thanks to God for all your blessings. We live amazing abundant lives. Even when things seem impossible, there is always something to be thankful for.

Enjoy this little video and Happy Thanksgiving!
