“PK” Preacher’s Kid – We met a man that lives on the street who wants to quit drugs. As he tells us this, his friend is leaning over taking another hit of some kind of drug trying to be low-pro about it. He talks to us for quite some time telling us about his, “baby mama” and how “its a good thing she left” because he has “a bad temper” and he “just had to get out of that situation before he hurt somebody.” And “I don’t like being out here with all these crazy people doing drugs and stuff, but I’m stuck.”
I try my best to follow him as people come up to us and ask us if we are passing out food and grab a sack lunch from us. We told him that God can break his drug use, he just has to surrender to HIM. Meanwhile, a lady walking by shouts, “Why you got that gun man? You need to put that away!” to the bent over friend right next to us. He continues to tell us that, “his uncle and brothers are preachers” and that “its in my family.” As he talks I see and hear the side effects of long-term drug use as he barely even makes sense. He continues to vent his feelings and talks about the “people in the streets pissing him off.”
We talked to him further about the love of Christ and ask if we can pray for him. He says yes and we proceed in breaking the bondages of drug use and sin. I asked the Holy Spirit to infill him and convict him of sin. I ask that He lead him to the cross and that his heart be opened to receive Christ. We say amen and each take turns giving him a hug. In faith, Christ will bring this man to repentance and into our glorious inheritance; CHRIST!!!
