I met a woman that has been known to be “out of her head” and to throw herself into the fire. When I first saw her she was at “our house”, where we are staying, and Michelle and Alexandra were praying for her. They told me about her condition and what they were praying for. She had 3rd degree burns that were deep and infected. She came to the house on her own after an encounter with one of the girls earlier. The fact that she even wanted prayer was an act of God!

One of the girls told me that she felt that she was possessed by a demon and that’s why she throws herself into the fire.(Matthew 17:14-21) I laid my hands on her head and we began to pray for healing over her mind, healing over her infected wounds, and I began rebuking any demonic forces in Jesus’ name. The entire time she was with us she was quiet and reserved. I couldn’t communicate with her other than the few words of Chichewa that I know.

I couldn’t help but notice the swarm of flies that kept trying to land on her huge open wound on her leg. She covered it the most she could with her dress but the flies were extremely persistent. I felt such compassion for her that I couldn’t leave her in that condition. Her wound looked horrible and the flies were only going to make it worse. A few of my teammates brought me some first aid supplies and I wrapped her leg. Meanwhile, swarms of village kids piled around to see what was going on. It was quite a scene. We tried our best to keep the kids back, but kids will be kids.

I realized, after we finished praying and wrapping her leg, then praying some more, that she didn’t know Jesus and I didn’t have a translator handy to help me tell her the Gospel. We prayed that we could have the divine appointment to share with her the Gospel when the Lord willed it, then walked her to the road at the edge of the property. We blessed her and said our goodbyes, but that’s when things got really weird!

As soon as she stepped foot off the property her entire demeanor changed. Like the switch of a light she went from quiet and reserved to hysterical and crazy. She had the most bizarre look on her face and laughed one of the most crazy laughs I have heard. She did some crazy handshake and blessing thing that kinda weirded me out. As soon as she walked off, Michelle, Alexandra, and I began to pray off whatever demonic spirit she had in her that she could have left with us.

Right after that the Holy Spirit gave me discernment and I realized that the reason she went from peaceful to crazy is because of the hedge of protection that surrounds the house. Wherever we are staying in each country, we pray over for protection from evil and all demonic forces. We ask the Holy Spirit to dwell in our midst and so that makes where we live Holy ground. The woman was at peace because of the Holy Spirit. The second she stepped off our property she was no longer on Holy ground.

The girls and I pray that we will see that woman again, only next time with a translator. We want to share the Gospel with her and hope that she will receive Jesus into her life. That is the only way she will have healing and the only way she can be saved. Join us in prayer for this woman. That we can have another divine appointment with her and that we can have the translator available to share with her the Gospel. All praise be to God Almighty! Thank You Holy Spirit for Your wisdom, guidance, protection, and love! Thank you for all that you are King Jesus!! Jesus is Lord!!!
