Day One:

TRAVEL DAY! Travel days are great. They’re super relaxed and can be fun when done right. We flew from Lima, Peru to Cusco, Peru. A whole 40 minute flight! And of course, I slept the whole way. We found our tour guide and drove to our Hostil. After we had some time to settle in we went on a small tour of the city, just looking and learning about the major places, cultural differences, and people.

Did you know, the city of Cusco has 23 churches!

After our tour my team mate Ben and I went out for dinner and then returned to the Hostil. Finally, time for bed!

Day Two:

Waking up was hard. Especially when the sleep you got wasn’t the best. 6am rolls around and we have 20 minutes to be ready, packed and out the door for breakfast. We eat our food and use the bathroom one more time and then treck a few blocks to get on a bus to drive for 6 hours. I sleep most of the way until it’s lunch time. We were told we would be given a “basic lunch” that was provided by the company we are traveling with. We get to the break-stop where we are supposed to eat and there is a top notch buffet set up! Yes, I did eat more than I should have… no, I don’t regret it one bit. Back to the bus! One more hour left till we reach Hydroeletrica! Then the bridge broke… so we had to wait an hour and a half to cross…

We arrive to Hydroeletrica at about 4PM and started our hike at 4:15PM.

11km. A little over 6.6 miles. 2 hours and 20 minutes. I felt so accomplished when it was over and I found it to be a fairly easy hike. Yes, me legs were sore, yes I was sweaty, and yes I was tired. But at the same time, I felt refreshed! We finally got to our Hostil and got all showered up and went out to dinner. I ate an AWESOME burger and so decent fries. They we all called it a night.

Day Three:

Time for Matchu Pitchu! Early morning starting at 5am for breakfast and then quickly gathering our stuff and bussing up the mountain. Finally we arrive and start our hike to the Inka Ruins.

Oh man, it was so beautiful! Looking out across the mountains of Peru, being up in the clouds, and seeing the architecture was breathtaking. I’ll make another post with all the pictures.

After Matchu Pitchu, I took the train back to Hydroeletrica, instead of hiking 6.6 miles AGAIN. Then it was time for our 6 hour bus ride back to Cusco.

We arrived back to Cusco at 9PM and I was more than ready for a shower and bed!

Day Four:

This was our “Off Day”. No traveling. No ministry. No hiking. Just a day for us to rest and enjoy. I was hoping to go to the Rainbow Mountains, but it was more expensive than I thought, and would take up more than 12 hours of my day. So I stayed in the city and explored. We found an adorable market and I finally got to buy a journal. It has an amazing leather cover and blank pages perfect for my doodles!

I ended my day by eating the best hamburger I have ever had and drinking a big glass of the best lemonade I’ve ever had. Ben and I were blown away by how good it was.

Day Five:

Back to Lima!

Go to the cafe he cafe in the cafe corner, order a coffee, and say ”Charlie”
