Hello my dear friends and family. On Monday I got to go on the great adventure of surfing the waves of Peru! I had such a fun time and decided I should move to Hawaii to become a pro surfer, I’m joking of course.

Unfortunately I was hit in the head full force with a surfboard. I had been experiencing some major pain and blurred vision after this accident. I went to the doctors and was sent to get an MRI because the doctor was under the impression I had a subdural hematoma. Thankfully that’s not what it was. Unfortunately there was something off with my scan.

I have been diagnosed with having an arachnoid cyst. It’s something I have had since birth and it has gone unnoticed and continued to grow. I have been showing symptoms of it but we categorized them as other issues. This cyst explains my troubled vision, my dizzy and fainting spells, my headaches, and my hearing loss.

Thankfully it is currently still safe and I can finish out my last 11 days on the race. As much trouble as all of this has been and as much anxiety as I’ve had, I’m so thankful that this incident happened because now I know and can go about caring for myself as needed.

Please keep me in your prayers as I continue with this and go about treatment.
