This month our team has been working as teachers at a private bilingual school called Loyalty! It sits atop a mountain just on the outskirts of Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

Our team of five girls are staying in a converted classroom above the school rooms we teach in.

We have had many memorable moments such as readalouds, game nights, and killing many creepy crawlies. I am forever grateful for my bug net!

Take a look at the amazing view we got to enjoy right outside our bedroom window. Living on the mountain meant cool breezes and nighttime rain showers.

This is a picture of our “eating room” week one. Now it looks kind of like a jungle with various clothing lines to dry our things out of sight!

Another great view from the outside play area for school and worship area on Sundays.

This was the first month where we needed to hand wash and line dry all of our things, and it was actually quite fun!

La Tigra National Park was our first adventure day activity! Boy was it beautiful.

I have never seen such a lush forest… it took my breath away!

Our team of five split up into the three classrooms. My teammate Hannah and I have tag teamed the middle age group with nine 3rd, 4th, and 6th grade students. It didn’t take long to fall in love with each of them!

Meet Stefani and Karls. Stefani has a heart of gold, and always works so hard and helps others along the way. Karls came a long way this month and really came out of his shell!

Andres is a little ball of precious. He stole Hannah and I’s heart right away, and is always running around playing with his pals.

These are our three sixth graders Marisol, Valeria, and Angel. They are three peas in a pod, and you can always find them switching colors for every letter they wrote in their cuadernos.

Each day of class, our students had the opportunity to earn a new letter in the word “Celebration.” Since they earned them all we threw them a big party our last Friday of ministry. We watched Sing on Hannah’s laptop, are oreos and pizza, and of course there were balloons!

My teammates Niki and McKenzie are with the K-2 grade classroom this month, but we all get to love on these cuties during class breaks like recess and lunch.

Maybe you have seen this picture on my instagram, but this is Julieth. She has the most gorgeous smile and is the most petite out of all the littles. I want to melt into a puddle when she saus my name like “miss juvia.”

The younger kiddos were so spunky and always keep us laughing!

Some of them have also mastered the art of posing for pictures like Danyely.

After our first adventure day we sort of laid low for the rest of the month. Our main outings were to City Mall where we could find awesome food, an arcade with roller coasters, and weak wifi. One weekend we got to see the movie Thor in English!

Our hosts’ college was performing a free play, so he took us and all of his family to go enjoy it! The two male leads may or may not have gotten shot at the end of the final scene. It is safe to say that we had no clue what it was about, but we were still entertained!

One night after church we got to see the Honduran rival teams battle it out in the nation stadium.
A couple weeks into our ministry, the Lord put it on my heart to reach out to my supporters and invite them into buying school supplies for Loyalty. I prayed a simple prayed asking God to please place it on people’s hearts to give, and two days later when I got wifi again there was $305 in my Venmo account! God definitely flexed his providing muscles. This cart is not even half of the school supplies that I was able to buy, and the money also provided a set of New Testament Bibles!
I hope that these pictures give you a glimpse of what our life was like serving in Honduras. As always, thanks for following along with my journey and being so encouraging!
Over and out,
Julia
