I went to school for fashion. Why? Well, because of two things. One, I liked clothes. I had worked retail since I was sixteen. It came natural to me. The second reason was that school and I didn’t really mix that well. I figured I could easily get a fashion degree. Even though it was difficult at times not being as fashionable as others, I graduated and proceeded to get a job in the fashion industry as an assistant buyer. Unfortunately, through time and several jobs later, I realized the fashion world and I didn’t really match either. I still liked clothes but I couldn’t get into the materialistic and superficial world. This ultimately had a lot to do with me coming on the world race. I want to find my passion and direction. But, I don’t want to think that I wasted any of my life.

Well, God has a funny sense of humor. During the month in Romania, I was able to be a “personal shopper” for the poor. The ministry that we were working with has a ministry of giving clothes to the needy. They pull out boxes on Tuesday and the following two days, the clothes are sorted and distributed into bags for the families that are in need and then we had the privilege of delivering them to the families. The coordinator, Marianna, would tell us the age and the approximate size of the family members and we were able to pick out the clothes for them. I immediately felt right at home. I was familiar with guessing sizes or knowing the genders of the clothing (European clothes are sometimes confusing). I was happy to pick out outfits for the little old ladies. Some of them will be sporting very trendy outfits:)

I was so happy to be able to use the gifts that God has given me. It even made me think of how I could implement this in my future. Who knows? Maybe I will start my own clothing ministry…combining my love for fashion and my love for helping others. We shall see. God is working in me for sure! Stay tuned to see how else he uses my gifts for his glory! I am so humbled to experience being selfless and pursuing him with all that I have.
