Hello from Africa!!!

I wanted to write and let everyone know I am doing well. LIfe is much different here than any other country. We are living in a mud hut: dirt walls, dirt floor, tin roof. Outhouse and "shower" room. Foam furniture and a small lightbulb to light up the whole room at night. It has 3 rooms. Pam, Bayli and myself sleep in Grandma's room. She calls me her daughter…she cracks us up. At night when we go to bed (sometimes as early as 8:30) she often says, "julia…come sleep with me." I tell her I am in the bed right next to her. I pray for her and she goes to sleep. And just a side note…she snores louder than anyone I have ever heard! I love her though.

We live with pastor Patrick and his wife Amy. They have 2 children. Jeremy who is 5 just had a birthday yesterday and we got to celebrate with him. Manuel is 8 months old. I have fallen in love with him. He is so cute. He has the biggest eyes I have ever seen. I have really connected with him. I hold him as much as I can and I love it when he falls asleep in my arms. I think God for giving me the time to play "mom." I am grateful for the practice.

Ministry this month is evangelizing in the morning and then lunch and rest and then we walk to school to play with the kids at school during their recess. It has been so fun playing with all of the kids. They love singing and playing games. Most of all though, they love sitting on our laps and holding our hand. In fact, we have several fights a day because of everyone wanting to hold our hands.

I am going to try and post pictures on facebook, so please take a look! I finally have wifi so I hope to load them quicker than here on the computer. We shall see!

Sorry for the brief summary of what is going on. I hope the pictures paint a better picture. I also hope to take a video of the process of getting water for a shower and washing clothes….boy, it is a process!!! Everything this month makes America seem spoiled rotten! Craziness!!! We are definitely in a whole new world!
