Below is a video and pictures of my last week in DC!
The Sunday of my last week in DC, my Church, said a prayer of commissioning over me. The District Church has been so incredibly supportive in my World Race preparations. They have loved me well through this season in DC and been the community that Christ used to re-capture my heart!
It was extra special coming from my Pastor, Matthew, my original small group leader and the first person I met at District. He asked Shiri and Joe to lay hands on me and in the second service Joe surprised me by saying the prayer himself.
On Tuesday, my small group had its last meeting of the semester. We met up with a few other groups and had a worship night. I basically cried the whole time – I love these people and their beautiful hearts for Christ!
In-between songs Joe read Hebrews 10:25 “And let us not give up meeting together. Some are in the habit of doing this. Instead, let us encourage one another with words of hope. Let us do this even more as you see Christ’s return approaching.”
He prayed that even though we would be apart we would never stop being a community!
I also want to note that the two people making crazy faces, (Sarah and Ryan) are engaged to be married – what a perfect match!
On Thursday Shiri hosted a farewell party for me and it was so lovely! I felt so overwhelmed with love and support. Sarah put it best when she told me I had a serious team of people praying for me back home!
That Friday, I had my last day at Friendship Place and the office threw me a pizza party! This is most of the development team.
I could spend hours telling you everything I learned from my 14 months with this organization. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to help fight homelessness in DC while growing as a communication professional.
The next day I packed up my car, picked up my mom at the airport and we drove 10 hours straight to Georgia!
