Sunday 29, 2019 A women’s voice breaks through the sound of chaotic conversation. The power echos against the walls of the one room church. The congregation instinctively follows after her in perfect rhythm in a silky harmony, magnifying the words just sung. Repeating line after line until the Holy Spirit prompts them to shift to a different song. Some songs slow and emotional, some songs full of praise causing a massive dance party around the room. The Holy Spirit leading every step, every note, every word. This is Swazi worship.
I am convinced every person I meet here in Swaziland is the best singer I have ever heard . It is in their blood. If you ask anyone what they do for fun most of the time it is sing. Their voices are like nectar. It’s enticing…and its is every where you go here. You hear them singing walking down the street, working, playing with friends, etc. It’s in their culture. They are a culture full of worshipers.
Two prophetic words have been spoken over my squad. One of them being unity, and the other being worship. God is crazy good, and has already allowed us to see worship playing a big part in our squad. We had no idea that worship played such a impactful part in peoples lives here. A big way we connect with the locals here is through singing. Every house visit we go on we end up worshiping with each other. I have bonded with some girls at the care point by bringing them some of my favorite song lyrics written down, and teaching them how to sing it. A big way we first connected with our shepherd was through worship as well. He is very passionate about music. He wants to make an album of the gospel songs he has written, so be on the look out for that fire track. Worship has also bonded the squad since being here. Our incredible ministry host, David, has a song writing class every week for who ever wants to do it. It has only been two weeks, and the Lord has gone above and beyond in showing us how worship applies to this squad. I know He will continue to lead us and open doors with worshiping through out our time here in Swazi. Maybe a squad song will be written, I don’t know what the Lord has in mind.
Worship is the act of giving worth to God… exalting Him … giving His very breath back to Him in praise…it is saying more of You less of me…its surrendering all. We are always in a state of worship wether we know it or not. We are constantly giving worth to something or someone. I have realized being here in Swaziland, a slow paced life style, it is super easy to be so distracted when it is so go go go. Taking a step back this month, has been so eye opening on what back home so easily takes our eyes off the Lord. Thank you Swazi, for showing me I need to grow in being in a CONSTANT state of worship exalting my ABBA, my Shepherd, Prince of Peace, King of kings, Bread of Life, my Everything.
Also! The teenagers at my care point are practicing for a singing competition!! Please keep them in your prayers as they prepare!! Pray they focus more on Who they are singing to rather than being perfect!
