My friend Aly made me this awesome recap/fundraising video I hope you enjoy it.
I had a great time at El Shaddai Mission in Swaziland this last month. Here are a couple of highlights:
Teaching Bible class:
I spent my mornings helping with the home school program that the mission runs for their high school students. On the first day the teacher asked if I would help teach the morning Bible classes so I agreed to teach Tuesdays and Thursdays. I spent the month teaching on Abraham and God’s faithfulness to his promise. When I left the kids said, “when we read Abraham from now on we will always remember you.”
Phiwa:
When we got to the mission we were each assigned a buddy for the month. My buddy was a 12 year old boy named Phiwa. 3-5pm was tutor time. Phiwa did not enjoy the tutor part of tutor time. In classic 12 year old boy fashion he did not want to study so I had to come up with creative ways to tutor him. On one extremely hard day Phiwa did not want to leave the mud pit where him and some of the other boys were building a city. After several failed attempts to pull him away I finally just sat down with him and started calling off multiplication facts. This got him thinking and he became engaged in studying his multiplication facts. I loved hanging out with Phiwa this month even though getting him to study could be a chore.
Next Month:
This next month my squad is heading into Lesotho (a small country completely surrounded by South Africa). We are the first World Race squad to go into Lesotho so we get to be trail blazers. This is really exciting for our squad and the World Race.
Funding:
This next month is also my last month to fundraise. I need to be fully funded ($16,270) by July 1st. In order to meet this deadline I need to raise another $3,270 this month. All donations go directly to me and allow me to be on this journey supporting missionaries around the world and making memories. Thank you to everyone who has supported me. Experiences like this last month and the new adventure that this next month brings would not be possible with your donations. Thank you for making this trip possible.
