With my time in Cambodia coming to a close I decided to try and write a poem to commemorate my time.
An Ode to Cambodia
Cambodia, Cambodia how precious how sweet.
To wonderful grandma Navi and her afternoon treat.
To a land of Star Wars vehicles, condensed milk and Ovaltine.
The land of smiles even amongst trials and grief.
To waving children on bicycles who will soon join in an English class.
A place where naked babies ride on motor bikes and smile as they pass.
To kind pastor Savorn and quirky uncle Cena who never ceases to entertain us.
For all the children that are so dear and insist on doing our laundry.
From running on the dirt road and waking up the dogs.
To resting in a hammock and sleeping like a log.
This month has been an interesting beginning to say the least.
Cambodia may you live on and be at peace.
