Assignment 2 – pick a theme for my blog.
One of my favorite quotes is this one by C.S. Lewis –
“There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal. Nations, cultures, arts, civilizations-these are mortal, and their life is to ours as the life of a gnat. But it is immortals whom we joke with, marry, snub, and exploit-immortal horrors or everlasting splendors.”
To align myself with the one true God is the only genuine opportunity to optimize my potential and life experiences. To engage in His kingdom and interact with His truth on a regular basis is the only hope I have to avoid disaster.
The worst contingency life presents is for me to never function in similitude with my true identity. I am woman imago dei – created in the image of God. Horrific or splendid.
This self-establishment happens in the context of community. The relationships I have – and the realities that I speak into existence by the power of God – have influence on the course of life. I want to be a life-giver; I want to affirm good, to call forth the splendid potential within people…
I want to experience these immortals and with them to rise up to God in spirit & truth.
There is no escaping the duality (paradox, even) of God’s nature, of man’s nature. This is the lens through which I am coming to view life. This is the approach to my thinking for the coming year.
My theme will be (cryptically) – “Immortal horrors and everlasting splendors.”
