Hi, welcome to my blog! So before I delve into why I have chosen World Race Gap Year (WRGY) as the next steps for my life, let me first explain what WRGY is.
World Race Gap Year is a missions opportunity for young adults ages 18-20. WRGY is a 9 month mission trip during which groups of about 30 young adults travel to 3 countries living out of their backpacks. In these countries the groups do community outreach, evangelism, children ministries, community development, and teach English.
Now that you know some more about WRGY let me explain why I have chosen WRGY as the next step for my life. Ever since I was young I’ve always wanted to travel the world and I’ve always been adventurous. When I was 13 God connected my love for travel and my love for him by sending me on a mission trip to Guatemala. On that trip I Learned that I wanted do to missionary work. I was blessed with the chance to go back the next year to Guatemala. After that I’ll admit life got in my way and my ideas to be a missionary were kinda put on the back burner. Fortunately for me God’s got a plan for me and at the end of my sophomore year I met a friend that re-lit the spark for missions in me by introducing me to YWAM. YWAM is a group similar to WRGY. After that point I had a decision to make for after high school. I could go to YWAM or follow the path of getting a job and college. Nothing against YWAM but I never felt a calling to it even though it was the path of mission work. I also never felt a draw to go to college either so I was kinda lost on what to do and was left just praying to God for him to guide my life. Then some friends of my parents told my parents about World Race Gap Year and so my parents told me and after looking at WRGY and praying about it I felt that God was drawing me to this path of missions. So that is why I have chosen to go on WRGY in September, I’ll be on Route 1 which takes me back to where it all started in Guatemala then on to Ecuador, and lastly to Nepal.
I can not wait to see how God changes my group and me on this mission trip. I’m so excited to have this opportunity to go and I would be majorly blessed if you would support me and my group with prayer. I feel awkward asking for financial support but both Jesus and Paul were supported this way and so I’m also asking that you would pray and ask God if he wants you to help support me financially and if he says yes please click on the donate button at the top of the page. If you do choose to support me either financially or through prayer I want to say thank you and I hope that you are blessed through your blessing.
God Bless you- Josten
